The composition of Goodbye Earth was inspired by the dizzying, dazzling and humbling time lapse images of stars in the night sky. The worrisome state of the planet in the hands of humankind brings to mind David Bowie’s lyrics from the song Major Tom, “Planet Earth is blue/And there’s nothing I can do.” In a similar tone of wonder and mournfulness the title is meant to raise questions about our intentions.
